Straight Pipe Question

Well guys, I'm finally about to take the plunge. I have the 4" pipe and two unions (pipe will be welded in place). I know this has been covered before, but I want to ask a few questions before grabbing the sawzall.

1. I am removing both the muffler and resonator. Is it feasible to just weld in the straight pipe, straight, or do I need to bend the pipe to account for the offset?

2. If I run the pipe straight, as is, will this cause my tailpipe to tilt up and contact the body? Will it cause the tailpipe to angle in any direction?

3. As an aside, the geno's muffler delete pipe and others - I assume this pipe accounts for up and down offset mostly, not side to side, correct?

Thanks for your help,
Alan

You need the offsets.

I left the cat in there to keep it mellow.

I just had the exhaust shop order the delete pipe and install it.

I was outta there for $60. I knew the guys, so that was a good deal.

I think they got it from here: http://www.goerlichs.com/

If you just put a piece of straight pipe with no bends in then all that will do is change the angle of the tip of the tailpipe a little bit. No big deal....

When I ran the straight pipe on my truck, I had the cat off for a week and put it back on because it was too loud. My tailpipe did move up, but it was still about 3 inches from the body. You will love the sound, it really gives it a nice low end grunt.

you wont need to bent it at all especialy when welding because you can tilt the joints a touch to get the same angles. and seal them up with your weld

Mine is straight with no cat or muffler. straight piece of pipe. If you have two people, have one person hold the exhaust tip where you want it and the other person welding on the pipe right there. Mine is still a straight piece of pipe and the tip didnt move up or down at all. just takes 2 people.

Same as torq here. Straight with a little angle at the weld. Done by shop. Leave the cat unless you want the white trash effect.

What is the overall? I have a leftover delete pipe from my 01.

BTW, anyone looking at Geno's should look here first:http://www.rpmoutlet.com/dieselx.htm
