BIG BFGs

Has anyone used the BFG A/T KO's in this size:

37x12.50R17/D ?

Anyone use them on a 4WD 3rd gen? Lifted or not? Clearance issues?

I have the Goodyear's w/3" of lift. No clearance issues on pavement. Some rub on the inner fender when articulated while turning. I love them. I chose them b/c of the 'E' rating. Opinions are like *-holes, but I figured that it would help with the taller widewalls. I don't have any good, updated pics, but I do have some. Hope it helps.

yes, well I have the MTs now. thought about the MTRs but went with the BFG.

as for rubbing, i have quite a few posts on this. my rubbing depends on the wheel offset. I have had stock wheels and some weld wheels with 5.5 offset or so.

I ended up doing some lower rear fender adjustments. more for the weld wheels, less for the stock wheels.

this is what the welds look like in the front.

as for the fender mods, here are a couple pics.

I basically rounded over some of the sheet metal and removed part of the plastic. not radical in my opinion.

for the stock wheels I basically opened up the mounting holes to push the fender back a bit.

pic after the mod with the stock wheels.

hope this helps, I am sure I could add more info. Just cant think of it now.

Thanks nriver - that helps; what size are those BFG's?
Do you have leveling spacers or a lift?

I want to upgrade to the BFG A/T KO 37x12.50R17/D for it's 3550# weight capacity, and it seems like they'd work with minor tweaking of the sort you did. I just don't want to get something too big to make work. I'll probably spring for a set of leveling spacers, but no lifting.

I had a set of 37 12.5 BFG ATs on my truck with only the snowplow springs. I have since changed to MTs of the same size. Both sets rub on the lower control arm at full lock but they have never touched sheetmetal. The ATs are pretty short for a 37, probably 1/2 inch shorter than the MTs.

looks like I did not subscribe to this thread.

tires are the 37x12.5x17 MTs. I have not measured them to get actual height.

I have the Lorenz suspension. 3" coils up front.

If the tire was a 1/2 inch shorter, the stock wheels would not of rubbed. With the welds, they would of (i think).

nriver - does that mean the front of your truck is lifted 3" ?

I checked mine yesterday at full lock, and besides the minor wheel housing rub you mentioned (easy to tweak) - it looks like the biggest interference problem is the rear inboard corner of the tire against the side of the upper control arm.

yes, 3" lift in front.

I did not have much problem with the control arms (stock wheels). With the new wheels, no problem there at all.
