I took my truck to the muffler shop today to get a straight pipe and I see that the muffler is gone but there is something still on it near the end of the tail pipe about a foot long and 6 or 8 inches around. What is this and should it be cut off to. My 05 seemed louder but it may not have been. Did the emmissions change on a 06? Thanks for the help.

 

Mega cabs have a resonator. That is what you are looking at. It will stop the drone (or help).

 

Is it restricting anything? Would it help my mileage to take it off. Will it be louder if I take it off, or is that what drone is? thanks

 

i would guess it is just a glass pack - so no restriction.

i would say with the kitty & the resonator - it is probably just right.

my 04 with nothing - was LOUD. after a few months, it was annoying.
