Exclamation Stock Power Steering Pump Modificaitons?

Has anyone modified their stock power steering pump for a little more flow/pressure output? If so how'd you do it?

I guess I have to ask - Why?

Usually guys want the opposite to increase MPG.

The pump may be variable displacement / have pressure feedback. If so, then the spring acting on the ecentric will increase the pressure. Try to find out the supplier of the pump, then contact the supplier to understand more on the design.

I think I know why he's asking... sometimes my steering is just plain tight especially at startup. I know it's only a matter of time for my pump/box to die on me.

Flush your pump - my fluid was so disgusting it almost made me puke! It was old, dirty, stinky, etc.

I did my flush the hard way, lost POS PS cap on the way to Darlington SC, took a bottle of fluid after new cap installed, lost cap on way home from Darlington AGAIN, replaced cap this time with modified cap and another bottle of fluid. I think it's flushed, don't recommend this process even though it does rust proof the under carriage at the same time.
Note to others: Do the cap mod.

I was really upset 'cause my power steering box leaked all over my drive way, and now the truck is sitting at the dealer. Then I read this and have not stopped laughing ever since. "Replace power steering = $600, Above quote = priceless!!!"
