Stock idle Speed?

Can't find info on what the stock rpm's are for the idle. I think the rig I just bought has an altered idle speed. Just not sure.

What trans do you have?

G56 is higher idle (800 I think) than the autos or NV manual transmissions. This was a weak attempt to retain the zero throttle launch capability. With the dual mass flywheel, the natural frequency of the system is at 475rpm, so if the rpm falls to 500 rpm, the engine will shut off to avoid resonance and subsequent destruction.

With the old system (NV4500 or 5600), I have had zero throttle launches at 300rpm when pulling the boat out of the water and the engine recovers nicely.

Is the shifter on the floor (manual transmission) or on the steering column (automatic transmission)?

What is the current idle speed (what makes you believe someone changed the idle speed)?

LOL!!! DOH!!! Ok I'm not that much of a novice...

yes it is the 6 speed...

had another prior to this one and I remember the idle speed seeming to be not as fast...

This one has the Edge/Attitude on it..maybe it is just smoother ...

just seems faster....

If you have to move the shifter to the left and down to get into reverse, you have the G56 with a dual mass flywheel and the idle speed is higher 800 rpm.

What model year was the "other" one?

The proper engine idle speed is printed on the ID tag that is on the drivers side of the valve cover. It also has your engine serial number and HP rating, fuel consumption at max power and all kinds of good info. On my truck the tag says 750 is idle speed, but dodge in their wisdom has a new tune for the truck that will raise the idle speed to around 800 or 850. I have not let them flash my truck with it and don't intend to. It runs too good and gets very good fuel mileage, I don't want to risk loosing anything buy letting them change it.
