So What is stock idle speed? I will be turning up my fuel screw, and I will need to reset my idle with the optical tach at school.

 

My Chilton's says:
With motor warmed up and AC on, 750 rpm. Auto trans, 700 rpm.

 

the plate on my timing case says 800 rpm. Anything from 650-800 is probably fine. Whatever you prefer. 650 rpm would probably make the truck shake and rattle a lot though

 

I like 800 - 850 on a stick truck. Keeps the mirrors from shaking.

 

If you like the way it idles now use the point and shoot tach before you tune on it. That way you have a base line to work with.

 

Stick is nice, it doesn't matter as much. I had mine on the Utility truck up at 1100 after I turned up the fuel screw and it was PUSHING hard when I was stopped. I'm sure it heats up the fluid quick too. 800 now and it sounds very nice idling.

 

Mines at 750 with a phototach. Sounds high to me, but starts off good with the 5 speed.
