60mm wheel upgrade needs machining done to the turbo to accept the larger wheel, pretty easy job for a machine shop from what I understand. Thinking of having mine done before I put it on my rig.

Your better off just putting the 60mm wheel on your H1C.

Unecessary to get the HX35 machined and install the expensive 60mm wheel, there the same specs.

Jon are you trying to use the 12cm wg housing the HX35 has or you wanna keep your 16cm ?? I think a 12cm would be fun on your truck but would get toasty EGT's too...

Yes on the new gasket and pouring some oil in the turbo.

If you haven't already bought the upgrade kit, try running it stock for a while.

Install of the upgrade is similar, but the HX compressor housing is held by a big snap ring instead of a band clamp.

You haven't run a 12 cm, have you? For any 5 speed truck that is stuck with a hybrid it is a much better choice than a 16.

hx-35 is a great cheap upgrade, throw it on with the 12cm housing,as said you,ll like it. the 12cm housing doesnt raise egt,s, pushing the turbo out of its map by overspooling it out of its efficiency map does, starts heating the air to much. put on the hx, push up to 32-35 psi and enjoy.

I agree. I pull a 30ft fifth wheel with the truck in my sig. and the only time I have problems with egt's is in the mountains. Just around town the egt's never get over 1000 to 1100 with my foot to the floor. It was a good upgrade for me.

the reason i am puttin on a hx 35 instead of the h1c upgrade is because i want a wastegate. and also i its pretty toasty now and im tryin to cool it without breakin the bank.

"Fit Notes (Please read before ordering);
This housing & wheel combo will fit all 1995-1998, 12 & 24 valve trucks, with a simple center housing machining procedure, if they have the O.E. part number turbocharger (attaches to the center housing with snap fing connection, not a v-band connection). The center housing must be machined to accept the larger compressor wheel major diameter. This is the only modification needed for these turbos." - From the GDS site

I don't know what a machinist would charge to do it.

Yes, the HX-35 is better than the H1C. Run it for a while and see how it is.

You should drill the center divider so it wastegates the front cylinders too.

No, the divider in the turbine housing.

With big injectors and a 12 cm housing the front cylinders can push the boost past where the wastegate is set. Drilling the divider lets some of that pressure from the front scroll bleed into the rear scroll and keeps the wastegate in command of boost.

There are pics in my gallery of what needs to be done.

so just open the port and drill a hole into the divider?
