hi

i finally got my hx35 on, i completely rebuilt it- it was easy to do ... look in my sig. i had the lagmaster 21 housing and let me tell you- it is insane the difference in turbos! i love the hx! it sounds like a freakin jet without the silencer ring!

unfortunatley i do not have a pyro so i cant tell you how egts are ( yes my trucks a 5 speed) but a friend of mine - randy (schamram) has the hx35 with a 5 speed and he says it runs much cooler

if you need more info on how to rebuild or about installing it let me know- id be glad to help

Justin

im pretty sure you dont have to... i could be worng seeing as i put mine on in 3 sections b/c i rebuilt it 1. exhaust housing 2. turbo itself 3. compressor cover

if you plan on doing this soon PB Blaster is your best friend to removing the 4 bolts that hold the turbo on- i lubed them up real good (i believe they were 15mm too) i got a new turbo to manifold gasket, new o-ring for oil feed to turbo, and a new oil drain gasket... you may have to shorten your downpipe also, i got lucky mine just barely cleared the firewall other than that you need a deep 7/16 rachet and a 10mm for the oil line and your good to go!

I have the HX on my 18cm housing but I have the 6 blade fan and needed machining. I believe the regular 60mm housing you can just put on the hx if I remember correctly it has 8 blades as apposed to the 6 blade (machine necessary) housing. I love it with the 18cm but mine is a auto I say put on the 12cm with the "mod" and the non machine necessary 60mm wheel and housing.

Fit Notes (Please read before ordering);
This housing & wheel combo is a direct fit on 1995-1998.5 12 valve trucks, if they have the O.E. part number turbocharger. (attaches to the center housing with snap fing connection, not a v-band connection).
looks like a 6 blade on a 95 to 98.5 is a direct bolt on

My HX was off of a 97 and the 6 blade I purchaced from gds needed to be machined lucky for me I had a lathe where I use to work. Give them a email or call and just double check to make sure you don't need to modify the center section before you by it. I love mine but would like a bigger turbo say a s300 or something along those lines. If you have the money do it right the first time but if you don't plan on going to hog wild the 60 on the HX will be fine. The swap is actually pretty easy and I'm sure some of your local guys (myself included) wouldn't mind helping you get it together and on.

By the way I don't run the 12cm (auto trans) and I do have to let off when I get around 45psi. I plan on "hogging" out the 12cm and putting that on eventually.

Disconnect wastegate actuator. Remove backplate from housing. Flip wastegate valve open. Working through the wastegate port, drill a big hole (at least 1/2", but 7/8" would be better) in the divider wall. Reassemble and install.

If you want to do any porting, port match the housing to the manifold. This is different from gasket matching. All you want to do is use paper to make a tracing of the manifold flange, then transfer that to the turbine housing flange. Smooth out anything that hangs out into the breeze, but don't hog out the entry to the housing.

You might need to move the compressor housing a little. The turbine housing is clocked properly already.

It is very easy. You can easily do it on the truck.

Price is OK.

My actuator made around 25 psi.

You will want to use a manual boost controller inline with the wastegate actuator to raise the boost. 32-38 psi works pretty good.
