Steering box broke
Well about 150 miles from home yesterday pulling a small enclosed trailer and I hear a funny sound, what could that be, well I find out about 2 turns later. It's getting dark and I look under the truck and figure the steering pumps broken, fluid everywhere, get some fluid at gas station, fill up and hit the highway. Brakes are wierd of course, call dealer on way... Anyway turned out to be a broken steering box, 8800 miles. All I did was pull out of this guys front yard in 4wd, over a maybe 12" incline to the road level, wheel not near full lock. AHHHH, truckless for 2-3 days had to vent

AHHHHHH
well the steering box came in and guess what, they found out a tie rod was broken so had to order a tie rod, next day it comes in and the guy somehow drops my steering box onto a return line and breaks it, not in stock another day. I'm screwed cause I got to pull a trailer the next day and I told them about it 3 days earlier and they are "real sorry, but these things happen." Hey I understand, own my own business and know how things go wrong. I remind him of my problem and they tell me NO loaner trunks only suburu cars. Fine my wife's SUV can pull the trailer if it must so give me the car, oh sorry none left. Ok how about something off the lot, she just has to take the kids to school and back, sorry its and insurace thing can't do that... So I'm polite and ask for the GM, get his voice mail, tell him the deal. He calls me back and says they took the part off a truck on the lot and I'll be good to go in 30 mins'.
I was VERY happy that he did this, it almost made up for their shortcommings, I won't badmouth them but not sure if I'll go back, we'll see after I calm down, cause I'd been out $1000 if I couldn't have pulled that trailer.
Now the truck pulls way right though so guess it need a front end align after the tie rod deal, it never ends.
Crazy thing is the truck shifts SO much better now, it doesn't do that skip 3 into OD thing, I looked for a reflash sticker but didn't see one, weird...
