So now my transfer case is leaking

Changed the fluid in my transfer case on my 06. Filled it with the ATF+4 like the book says. I also replaced the Rear u joints (one was bad.)
Now I have ATF+4 leaking out the rear seal onto the u joint which is slinging it up onto the bottom of the bed .Anyone replace that rear seal in the transfer case. Maybe I damaged it putting the driveline back in?

I had to cut the u-joints out. sounds like maybe the yoke has a rubber seal in it that I may have damaged? anyone have any info on this?

Stupid question, but are your certain you didn't overfill the case? I had a Toyota case start leaking at the rear output seal and it was because I accidentally filled the case twice LOL

Naw, just topped it until it started running out the filler hole. Boy that ATF+4 is nasty smelling stuff. I can smell it from inside the cab at 60mph with all the windows rolled up.

Most likely the freeze plug at the rear of the slip yoke. I pounded mine out, cleaned it up and JB welded it back in. Dry as a bone for 10K so far.

Hope so, that would be an easy fix. Trying to fifure out if there is some rubber seal in the yoke I may have damaged by cutting the u joint out. Ill go clean up the yoke and see if I can tell where it is leaking. very possible about the freeze plug as the u joint is slinging oil every where.
