Transfer case leaking
Transfer case leaking
Got a 98 4x4, transfer case is leaking at the rear seal and a little around the connection between the 5spd and the transfer case, can you buy the rear seal and I imagine it isn't hard to change right ? :-

NOTSTK,
I can't remember the price; not much though. You have to remove the skid plate and cross member, then drop your drive shafts, then remove t-case from tranny, then remove the seal and replace, then seal t-case and tranny connection with silicone, then reconnect everything that came off. Good luck.

Re:Transfer case leaking
Gotta disagree with one thing you said. The transmission has a rear seal and the transfer case has a front seal, there is no sealing necessary between the two housings. Better not to seal it so that when a leak occurs you can see it. So just bolt up the transfer case to the transmission, no sealant necessary or desired.
Re:Transfer case leaking
On my 96 i had several minor oil leaks including this one, once i had the new seals installed, i added the apprpraite stop leak to each component and had 400000 leak freem miles after that
