Slight knocking from rearend on takeoff

Hey everyone,

My truck has done this I think since almost day one, but it must be bothering me more these days. Anway, when I first take off from a standstill, I get a couple of knocks/thumps from the rearend as I'm slipping the clutch out. Usually just like 2 to 3 quick knocks and that's it. And I think it generally only happens after the truck has been sitting or after I've just backed up. Actually, I think it's happened on occasion when making a turn from a stop too. It's nothing that I find too alarming, but I'd like to know what it is. Any ideas?

Could be a brake caliper sticking or a pad chattering against the rotor. Also, youu might try re-torquing the wheel lugs. I've seen instances where the rotor itself was "slapping or knocking" against the wheel studs.

I have a similar problem with my 06 Mega Cab (Auto).
After the truck has been sitting, if I go to back-up or move forward, I will get a heavy metallic knock, as soon as there is some tension on the driveline. Sounds like if you were to clunk 2 heavy pieces of metal together. It usually only does it once in reverse or forward and will not do it again until it sits. The sound is coming from the rear axle area.
It has done it since day one and nobody can figure out what is causing it.
I have 40k on my truck and nothing has failed, but I find the knock annoying.

Mine is not really a metallic knock, but more a muffled "thump" or "thud". I climbed under the truck and visually checked all the suspension linkages and it all looks okay. But I did notice that my spare tire was loose, so I tightened that up and I'm hoping that was the noise I was hearing.
