Studder on takeoff

For the past few weeks I have noticed a slight studder when I take off from a stop sign. It does it regardless of whether Im gettin into it or not. It dosent do it all the time either. Its completely unpredictable. Its almost like its missing or has a lack of fuel. Im gonnna try a new fuel filter. My friend had a Ford PSD dump truck with the same problem except a lot more sever and he had a bad injector. Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

You might have an injector that's partially clogged. Change the filter, first. Then Cummins makes an injector cleaner (or at least sells it) that works really good. You can get it in the gallon container and run the supply line into the jug and into the engine or simply add some to the fuel. The gallon is the fastest way (Cummins recommended).

Do you have an automatic? if so, i have read many reports about the clutches shuddering.

does it shudder more or less when you are loaded/unloaded? could be the drive shaft carrier bearing angle is changing with load.

If you have an auto, it could very well be the tranny slipping. Although you would probably notice it more when the TC is locked up than unlocked. I had a slight shudder and it turned out my lift pump was dead.

Re:Studder on takeoff

I am running a NV4500 and so far I have changed the fuel filter and run a tank with some PS injector cleaner. So far its only done it once since I put the cleaner in. Probably run one more tank through and see what happens. I appreciate all you replys.

Re:Studder on takeoff

That injector cleaner from Cummins looks like graphite but it is a good lube/cleaner.
