SBK's injector failure?

Started her up this morning and she was running a bit rough, didn't think much of it figuring she was just being grumpy.

On the Highway I notice the car behind me kept using her wipers and it hadn't started raining yet.

I'm thinking uh-oh, I hope she's not wiping oil off her windshield.

I stop at the gas station and fill up and notice she stinks a bit like a fresh oil change which she had about a week ago.

Didn't notice anything else until about 1 mile from work when the Turbo sounds noisier than usual? A deeper sound almost like a radiator fan instead of a Turbo. I got to work opened the hood and set the high idle to try and hear any noises, nothing.

Oil pressure is good and the engine block is dry? WTH?

I walk around the back of the truck and notice my wheel wells look perfectly clean like a new off the lot vehicle, no dust or anything? I walk around the back and my rear bumper is just coated in oil.

Towed her to the dealer, waiting for results.

41,500 miles on her.

Dealer called.

Our Diesel tech is busy but our Oil change guy says it's a mixture of Oil and Diesel.

Durrrr!

I didn't say that, but c'mon I told them that when I dropped her off.

Still waiting for dealer to call back, but anyone who has had this experience...

Does the dealer clean the underside of the vehicle?

If not, what's the best way to do it?

#3 Injector hanging open per Dealer Tech...

Should I have any concerns about the Turbo due to Diesel fuel in the Oil? I still had full Oil Pressure.

Also, I asked about the Dealer cleaning the oil, they said take it to a detailer that can steam clean the bottom (NOT COVERED), only local detailer doesn't have a rack that will hold my truck.

Dealer cleaned mine, said it was part of the warranty. He said that since the part failed and caused it, they would clean it along with oil, filter, and fuel filter change. One month later, my turbo went out.

Mine did the same thing right before the engine blew, and the guts of my turbo ended up in the converter 5 minutes after I heard the same sound you did and the mechanic said it was all due to piston ring going out on #5 piston.

Anyone know how they get the Diesel out of the Crank Case and Pan? Is a little Diesel in the oil okay? I'm curious how they'd flush it.

Another question besides the above post...

Is there a gauge available that would give you warning if an injector were hanging open?

Would you notice anything on a RP guage?

On the phone with Chrysler, Dealer said the oil needs to be changed at my expense, the oil will need to be changed again after 500 miles at my expense and the fuel filter needs to be replaced due to the dye THEY injected for diagnosis at my expense.

Curse word, Curse word, Curse word!

I can't believe this *Curse word*.

Spoke to Chrysler, they only cover the original oil change, and since the second oil change (500 miles later) is "recommended" they won't cover it.

They won't cover the fuel filter replacement because it's a maintenance issue even though it was changed 1500 miles ago and only needs to be changed due to the dye that the tech used as part of his diagnosis.

I called the dealer and reiterated to not change the fuel filter ($139.95), I would do it myself for $20.00, they said "Oh, it's already been changed" I said I didn't authorize it, they replied yes you did, you authorized up to $135.00 for diagnosis.

I can't believe this *Curse word*.

And they still won't cover having the truck under carriage steamed cleaned.

hmmmm, I wonder why all these dealership posts go south all the time. It is a crying shame they operate that way. Just hope you get your truck back and it is fixed properly.

places like that need to be reminded of how much glass they have intheir store front, and the shame it would be if a stonew were to get kicked up by a tire from a customer that had just been bent over and "handed" a bill
