What kind of mileage are you guys the the S.O. CTD seeing these days. I just got mine less that a week ago and have not been able to get any kind of baseline yet.

I averaged about 15-16 with my 2003 SO 47RE 4X4. I 'm now getting almost 19 MPG with my 2004 555 h.o.

My numbers are the same as Johnshole but I have 315s and 4:10 gears. Of course I have a 4" exhaust and better air intake than stock. I am quoting numbers with my box turned off...

You know, there are so many factors that contribute to mileage that it's not realistic to ask what others are getting and then make a determination of if your truck is running right or not. My mileage includes sitting in DC traffic 5 days a week. If I lived in some rural area like Montana I'd probably get 19 mpg. I think the right queston to ask is "What have you guys done to improve your mileage?"

Not busting your chops! Just trying to be realistic.....

I get around 19.5 . That is with the ez on 4 ,not towing. Tires are a little taller and have some added weight on the truck that isnt stock (front bumper and aux fuel tank)

I find that after a tank of rural PA driving it will center around 18.4-6. Strictly highway I get in the 20's and driving it hard I'll get around 16-17. Half a tank of babying it to stay in the 19's will drop fast after one good WOT

feeling really disappointed here w/ a fully stock 03' Ram Q/C 4x4 5spd. Been barely able to eek out 14.5 in town and occasionally looking at 16 out on the open highway. Would be really interested in hearing about ways to help my mpg!

Sure good buddy!!

The first thing is breaking it in. Mine was about 13.5 mpg city when new and with more miles it continued to get better mileage up until about 15,000. Then it stopped going up on it's own.
There are lots of fueling boxes out there that tell you your mileage will go up so you start to think "Wow! More power and better mileage!? I want one!" Well for me that has not ever come through. My truck always loses mileage with a performance box although the Quadzilla box only drops me .5 mpg when I leave it on the 60 hp setting. With my old EZ I lost 2 mpg!! Of course, the overhead readout tells you your getting much better mileage because it's fooling the computer but it's way off....

The only thing I have done to this truck that has gained me around 1 mpg was when I added my BHAF and Banks 4" downpipe. Both were put on the same day so I don't know which helped the most. My guess would be the downpipe because I had been running an AFE drop-in air filter in my airbox.

I hoped the 315s might help since you're actually travelling further with each revolution of the wheel but that didn't help either. In fact, that lost me another 1 mpg.

I guess the biggest thing you can do is keep your foot out of it because hard take-offs and driving like an idiot will definitely drop the mileage. Heck, if I drive the back roads home from work instead of sitting in this stinkin traffic on I-95 my mileage goes up almost 1 mpg..... On the highway, if I can drive only 60 mph my mileage goes up to around 22 mpg. That's 2 more than I get at 65 mph and it's 4 more than I get at 70 mph! It's just very hard driving that slowly but it's worth it. I was on the hwy the other day and set the cruise at 65 mph and I averaged 19.5 with the Quadzilla box turned off. I'm real happy with that considering the Chevy truck I had before only got 16 mpg hwy.....

I've been thinking about going back to the stock size tries to get a little mileage back but my wife won't let me. She thinks the truck looks perfect with the 315s so I'm stuck where I'm at........

Now, it seems that a lot of people here, including myself, have felt like the truck had more power and seemed to get better mileage after a couple of good heavy tows. I know after the first couple of times I towed heavy, the truck just seemed more responsive and mileage for the first tank after that seemed higher. I can't remember if it stayed up but it definitely was a little higher. If you've never towed then you might want to hook up about 10,000lb and go take a ride and try to break it in some more....

Well, its not in my signature, but I'm pretty sure my truck is broken in. It has about 91,000 miles so I figure it is getting close to broken in or just getting started! I just ordered a quadzilla tow box too, so I will see how that goes. I will keep yall posted.
