RPM Surge When Stopping

When I push the clutch in coming to a stop, the rpms go up and down from 300 to 900. I've run stanadyne performance in my truck since day one.Got caught with no stanadyne a couple weeks ago and ran about 1/2 tank of fuel dry. No engine light but code p0191 shows up. Any ideas? Could the dry fuel make the pressure regulator stick? Thanks Wayne

Has something to do with the ECM. All manuals do it. Idle down in 6th and kick it into neutral without the clutch and you can watch it bounce all the way to the stop sign.

This is an 04.5, bought it new, 81000 on the clock and it just started this 2 days ago. I know what you are talking about. This goes from 300 to 900 until completely stopped. If I take off in 2nd and have to stop fast, it will almost die then kick up to 900 rpms and bounce back and forth. What ya think?

I think its related to the APPS (accelerator pedal positioning sensor), mine does it as well, but not bad, I usually can see it fluctuate about 100-200rpms. I now downshift more often, usually 6th to 4th and 4th to 3rd before rolling to a stop.

I know of a few threads that ask about this and nobody has ever replied with a definitive answer. I would love to know what causes it if anyone knows for 100% sure.

I have stanadyne performance in this tank. I also added a bottle of outboard 2 stroke oil to that. Put about 150 miles on that and was still doing this when I parked it. Sat for 3 days and drove it yesterday. Everything back to normal as of now. Will see tomorrow if it starts doing this again.
Thanks Wayne
