Repeated loose track bar bolt issue

3rd time in less than 5000 miles?

Any suggestions? I know Jeep changed the bolt design on theirs due to issues, but don't know what they changed to and if I could find a comparable in my bolt size.

It's the passenger side bolt, the bushings have been changed each time so it isn't worn bushings.

Have you tried the upgraded bolt size? (info from carli track bar install instructions)

"NOTE: If it's a 2003-2007 truck with a 14mm upper bolt (Signified by an18MM bolt head), many elect to upgrade to the
larger, factory hardware for its larger torque value. If you plan to upgrade the hardware, use a 5/8" or 16MM drill bit to
drill the Driver’s side frame bracket, then order the following part numbers from your local dodge dealer and follow
above instructions without utilizing the included reducers:
 2007.5+ Track Bar Bolt - 16mm: 6508942AA
 2007.5+ Track Bar Nut - 16mm: 6509070AA"

"With the bar now assembled, slide the captured bushing into the axle pocket and assemble with the factory hardware.
Torque the lower assembly to:
 185ft.lbs if utilizing the factory, 14MM hardware and reducer sleeve
 225ft.lbs if utilizing the factory 16MM hardware"

Here's the most important step.

16. Periodically check the bolts and jam nut for torque as the track bar bolts are notorious for working their way loose.

Well Thuren's kit was a catastrophe. It's not on them solely, I take blame in not paying enough attention to what was in the kit and I place some on them for not clarifying on the product description page that the kit is only compatible with their trackbar or at least saying not compatible with factory trackbar. The description below seems pretty straight forward.

I ordered part # TF-TB-UK

The description reads...

Designed to upgrade 2003-2007.5 OEM 14mm bolts to the newer 2008-2013 16mm larger bolts.
Includes all hardware and spacers, including new PTMEG Poly bushings.
Must drill frame and axle holes out using a 5/8" or 16mm drill to use this kit.

I didn't notice that it includes 1 sleeve for regular bushing and 1 sleeve set for a Heim end.

My first mistake post ordering, we drilled out for the 16mm bolts prior to noticing the kit wasn't what I needed.

My next mistake was assuming the bushings would fit the factory trackbar and I'd just have the other sleeve machined locally. The bushings will not work with the factory trackbar.

I did phone Thuren on Saturday and left a voicemail asking about the kit contents and he did respond in a timely matter via text with the answer I of course didn't want to hear.

I ended up driving 50 miles to pick up a 2012 factory trackbar for $267+tax and then using the bolts and jam nuts from Thuren's kit because no local dealers had the bolts/nuts in stock.

It wouldn't have been too big of a deal had it not been raining everyday out here lately, I'd have just rode the MC to work until corrected, but with the constant rain I had to get it done that day.

Lesson learned, PAY ATTENTION!

Hi I know this is a old thread but this is what I found my front end was still loose after replacing everything it ended up being the Drop Link hole in bracket and track bar was .578 diameter and the bolt they put in was .538 that is a .040 difference does not sound like a lot but to a machinist it's a lot the upgrade bolts they sell are 16mm witch is .6299 witch also suffers from being threaded witch is smaller yet and well bond the edge of the bracket so I came up with this one witch is a tap fit in took care of the issue. Link to GIF of loose bolt it was the same way in bracket. https://im6.ezgif.com/tmp/ezgif-6-2f402cec26e2.mp4
