Rear main leak

I replaced the rear mAin seal on my engine when i was replacing the clutch the first seal started leaking within two days due to a defective seal out of the box, I had a shop change out the second one due to time constraints made it a little over a week and its leaking again. I used the improved Fel pro seal both times anybody have any ideas on a better seal? Thanks in advance

Are you sure it's the rear main and not the cam seal?

cummins rear main seals don't leak very often, it could be leaking from some where else

I used the seal from cummins. I gave the parts guy my engine number & it's been good for two years. Are you sure there's not a nick on the crank or something? I think this is a common problem, (rear main leaking). I seem to have read when I put mine in that it was a bad batch of seals from the factory. Of course mine didn't leak until it was out of warranty. Good luck

My engine has almost 312k miles on it and each time I pull the tranny to put a new clutch in it (power is a great thing but it's heck on parts) I have to replace the leaking cam seal.....never the rear main.

Looking at rear of engine it's up towards the top. You'll have to pull the aluminum cover off of backside of block to access it. It resides behind a small inspection cover.
