rear main leak
my 01 HO 6spd is leaking purdy good out the main seal does ant one know what its costs to get it fixed, and ill prolly do a sbc con ofe while in there?
is this a diff job to do myself???

Its not hard to do if you have some mechanical skills takes about a day. Cummins makes a kit to fix it. My old 98 had a leak come to find out it was the cam plug so check that also when you have it apart. you have dropp the bell housing to get to it all and remove the starter too.

The seal itself isnt that expensive but if you take it to a shop or a dealership it will run you about 8 hours labor (changing a oil pan gasket is 7.3 hours labor and 30 bucks in parts, I figure rear main seal is about the same).
Doing it yourself isnt that hard, but you have to drop the tranny, there are a few good threads recently about how to go about doing that.
