Rear main seal leak, warranty on 2002

Howdy!

It seems that the rear main seal on my Cummins is leaking. I've got 10K miles of warranty left on my '02, so I'm planning on getting Dodge to fix that. I think I've read here that is a known problem. Is there anything in particular that I should say to the shop about this when I bring it in? As long as I'm getting down toward the end of my 70K mile warranty, is there anything else I need to look at?

Thanks,
Tad

I would suspect the oil pan gasket over the rear main.

Does that require a gasket replacement or can simply snugging the oil pan bolts help?

Have had two that had the rear main leak. In both of them the seal had actually spun in there. Cost $300 for a tranny shop to swap out. While tranny is down, see if they will replace some seal in the front of the tranny since it is down. Since yours is still in warranty it is probably just the oil pan. As soon as the warranty goes out, the rear main will leak!!!!!! Got to love it..
