question about 250hp so and boost

how much boost is the 250hp SO capable of making? ive had the banks six gun and speed loader with their egt and boost gauges in the past, and on all settings 1 thru 6 never got more than 25 lbs of boost. now i have the smarty jr and quad commander and still on all 3 settings never get more than 25lbs of boost. is that all the so motors are capable of making? im just curious because i keep seeing guys here making 35 to 45 lbs with their ho motors.

You do not have a electronic waste gate. You need to get this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DODGE...spagenameZWDVW

so you can turn the boost up. I see 34-36lbs with mine. Untell i blow the turbo yesterday.

im guessing that you adjust the set screw till you get the boost you want? can too much boost hurt anything?

After a certin PSI(32) I think it is, these turbos on the SO's are just beyond there efficiency. I put a boost elbow & a boost fooler on mine and I can see 38psi on a hard pull, at that much boost your just blowing hot air, not realy doing much.

But to answer your question, yes it can be bad for the turbo if you do it alot.

Maybe someone can answer this for me. I've been thinking about this latley. A turbo running at say 30psi is spinning how fast? Atleast 60k rpms? Imagine getting your finger in there.

The only way I could ever make any serious boost on my old SO was to have stacked boxes and have them on the high settings. This even held true after I installed a 62/12 turbo.

I regularly run 32-34 psi when towing up steep mt. passes with mine. The boost elbow that came with my Edge did the trick. No problems so far.
