If anyone wants to compare problems with another make (Ford) to feel truly blessed, then just browse on over to the ford diesel truck forum and read about the new 6.0 and all the problems those guys are having with their new trucks. <br><br>They had one guy who had just forked over $49000 cash and had 12.5 miles on the odometer when his truck took a crap in his driveway! He had to have the thing towed to the dealer twice before it had 56 miles on it! <br><br>There are apparently several different problems from rocker arm (valve train) falling apart to diesel fuel in the crankcase to electronics problems, oil leaks, and probably others but I just could not bear to read any more. The owners all were apologetic for their trucks (I guess I would be too if I just burned 50 grand and got a POS PSD)! Then again I would probably be going postal after that...<br><br>I gotta tell ya that the very few minor problems I have read about on this forum (rust on the driveshaft!?! etc.) just don't seem to amount to much after reading those horror stories about the ferds. I looked under the hood of a buddy's new ford and it was jam-packed with crap under there. Supposedly the dealers are not backing up guys with problems and are having to fight with them to get electronics flashes done and don't even stock the new injectors (problems with those also). <br><br>Oh well enough about the ford. We are all very fortunate to be able to purchase and own the Dodge / Cummins package.

 

Sucks for them . Really it isn't funny :-X<br><br>I was leaning heavily towards getting a new F*rd...glad I didn't now; love my truck, getting better every day.

 

I've had my 99 for almost 4.5 years now and the more I drive it the more I like it. Power+fuel economy= ;D

I just had a nice long talk this morning with the owner of the dealership here about that rust thing, Boss Hog. I was in having the reflash (C02) done for the cruise. He was asking about the truck and how I liked. I complained (AGAIN) about the rust - - he said he knew it, hated it, had complained about it for years. Said it is much better today than it was a few years ago and he and a bunch of the other dealers are still griping about it to DC. So, they are aware. Doesn't make it any better for us, but maybe down the line. ??? ???<br><br>I did comment how tickled I was with it and amazed that, after reading the other forums on the new trucks, we have had so few actual problems needing recalls. Yes, a couple of fluid low problems that were a bummer, but overall very trouble free. I think we have some winners here.<br><br>SmilinBob

I looked under mine last night, and no rust except one U-joint has a light exterior dusting on it; everthing else is shiny steel. Maybe my dealer cleaned it up before delivery? The only complaint I have so far is that these factory people haven't designed in a pyrometer yet, and for these towing trucks is really is a necessity. <br><br>OffthesoapboxRoger

Sorry curiousBob, I have a manual and don't know about the 48RE, other than I have seen the other threads here that say they are putting on aftermarket trans temp guages - so I must ASSUME they don't come with them form the factory. Of course, I haven't seen the other makes do this either... ???<br><br>All I can tell so far is that we still have the best one made in its class on the road today.
