Please help never seen this before....

Sorry its long just want to be detailed so you can get the picture.

So this morning I started the truck and at the stop light out of my peripheral vision i noticed my rpm gauge make a small jump up and back down. Thought I was going crazy or man i must still be asleep. Didn't think anything of it cause truck totally normal, and i know I did not touch the go pedal. Anyways as I was driving to work it happened again and a lil more through the day. Truck feels normal than ever so I have no idea whats going on.
Is my rpm gauge going crazy. ....Guys i really need you help on this one, I have never seen this happen to any car I drive and its driving me crazy...

thanks.

You have an 06

Without looking i knew you had an 06. tach jumping around but engine rpms aren't changing are they? Had my instrument cluster changed out at 24K miles doing the same thing. took them three days if i remember correctly they had to get one from star and it had to be programmed with the odometer reading on the old one.

I hated to post and tell you but it sounds like the instrument cluster. You might try a crank position sensor but so far the problems like that have been a bad cluster controller.

Check for any codes. Do cluster check. If you have been driving in the desert lately in the valley check for crud in the crank sensor.

would checking for codes be the same as checking for engine codes? also where would the crank sensor be?
