Anyone know the Precision part number for the rear driveline u-joints?
Anyone know the Precision part number for the rear driveline u-joints? I am told by NAPA that it is P330A, by the shop that it is P331A or P354 or the HD version is the P270???? Anyone know the correct part number? Again, thank you ahead of time.
I am wondering the same thing. I also get the run around when I go to the dealership and the local parts store. The dealership is trying to get me to buy the whole drive shaft with u-joint..which is not going to happen because its absurdly expensive.
Looks like I may have found the answer to my question:
American Axle 1415-Style uses the PCN-330A
American Axle 1485-Style uses the PCN-351A
Rear Universal Joint Kits for 2003-up for in 2500 and 3500 with Diesel or V10 engines. 2003 and newer trucks come with two sizes of external snap ring universal joints. Generally, trucks with 6 speed transmissions and 3 joint rear shafts use 1485 series AAM style u-joints. Most other Dodge 2500 and 3500 trucks use 1415 joints. To Identify the joints your truck has, measure the diameter of the u-joint cap. 1415 joints have 1.188" (1-3/16") caps. AAM 1485 series joints have 1.375" (1-3/8") caps. (AAM manufactured all the propeller shafts in these trucks regardless of joint design.)

Heavy---Not necessarily--if you buy both sets of u joints from Dodge and then compare that price to the price of a new driveshaft that includes the yoke and both sets of u joints I think you'll find the drive shaft is cheaper than just buying the u joints alone----- I didn't believe it till my parts guy showed me in on the computer

I just put the 330's on mine which are grease able and are 1.188" diameter cups. The larger cups were used with manual trannys from what I understand. Paid $24 each and there is NO WAY I'd spring for another drive shaft with stock u-joints on them. The stock joints were crusty dry and rusty on the inside. At least I can grease the new ones and if they go bad, it'll be because of my procrastination and not from bad design.
I would go for the drive shaft with the u joint, but i would like to upgrade to a better higher quality heavier duty joint if possible. Pull-Ya, what kind of price did you get on the shaft/u-joint combo
