paid my stupid fee today...
filled tank with gas a couple of weeks ago. no idea until it got to the dealer on the tow truck. had driven it about 15 miles
Trunk seems to be okay now. 13 days, $7600 for pumps, flushes, etc.
I usually fill at racetrack. diesel in hose to left, 3 gas on right, green nozzle.
Last was at Hess. exact same configuration, but apparantly high test in the green hose on the left.
2nd diesel, 100000 on this one. thought it could not happen to me.....
be careful.

Don't they have the nozzles marked on what pumps what? I believe it was severe lack of paying attention!! Just because the nozzle is green, doesn't mean it's going to pump diesel.
Sounds like the dealer hosed YOU!
I would have drained the fuel tank, filled it with diesel, open the water drain at the filter until I got good diesel there, then changed the filter and drove the truck. Probably put a little Howes in there or something just to be sure I had plenty of lube.
You know how many hundreds of trucks have gas run through them once or twice? Probably even thousands.
Did your insurance company pay for the repair?

I always think it cant happen to me either but i am always paranoid when using unfamiliar stations!
Yep. You got ripped off. You coulda taken care of this yourself. Every dealer is gonna tell you that the whole fuel system is ruined and this is not true. Did you at least get the old parts?

BP is bad at having green on gas. I did the same thing caught it in less than 3gal put some 50weight 1 qt of 50W and a gal of cooking oil. then filled it up. filled it up agen at 3/4 tank again that has been 55.000 miles every thing is good.
I try not to fill up at BP because their pumps are color coded backwards compared to all the other stations. I was once at a BP, pressed the button for diesel, and grabbed the green pump but it would not pump anything. After getting really irritated I finally figured out what was wrong. Thank God the diesel is always on a completely separate pump.....
I don't feel sorry for Woodperson at all. He came on here on Jan 6 asking about putting gas in the tank and we gave him the right advice.
Ignoring our advice he had the dealership take as much money as they possibly could.
Somebody has to keep them in business. If he chooses to throw away money, he sure doesn't need our sympathy.
The real advice to be learned here is: If you accidently put gas in your diesel, take a deep breath and know that everything is probably alright, just drain it, add new fuel and a lubricant and continue on like nothing happened.
