P1740 code today??

I just had a check engine light with a P1740 code. I looked it up and it said it was a code for TCC Or OD Solenoid Performance. Its a 2007, 5.9 4X4, 48RE, 7000 mi. Truck seems to be running fine. Any Ideas on this code and the associated problems?

Do you have a after market TC/VB???

It has to do with the TCC circuit...I have the same code pop up all the time. I have a Spec-Rite converter that is SUPER TIGHT...this code pops up when the computer does not see enough RPM drop when the converter locks up. Mine does it while in slow traffic, after 2-3 runs to 35mph without lock-up rpm drop the computer thinks that something is wrong and throws a code. I just clear it with my SMARTY and carry on...

If you dont have a upgraded TC/VB, then something else might be wrong....

No, just stock. I was driving at about 40 mph for 4 miles on a country road on the way home, so I was driving very similar to the conditions you listed above. Thanks, I will get it check out tomorrow. It was just strange because the truck has been driving great including towing horse.

This code will not put your truck in LIMP MODE, it is just a advisory code. Just get it cleared and carry on...if it happens to happen again, then something might be wrong. But for now just drive your truck like normal.

My old truck's (2001 Dodge Ram 2500) check engine initially light came on with no fault codes. I unhooked the battery and cleared the fault code.

One week later the check engine light came back on with a stored fault code of P1740.

The service manager called back and said he spoke with a 'service adviser specialist' and they are going to take the transmission out and install a new input shaft, front pump, and a new torque converter. They are had to install a new trans filter and do a complete tranny fluid flush.

Dealer's parts and labor was $1700.00. I just had to fork out $100.00

They removed the tranny from the truck and replaced the following:
-Valve Body Pressure Boost Cover Plate (warped)
-Valve Body
-Input Shaft Front Pump/Pump a$$embly
-Torque Convertor
-Bumch of new gaskets/seals
-New ATF (system flush)
-Trans Filter

GOOD LUCK!

a p1740 code is your o/d solenoid, not a big deal. alot of people get them when they upgrade there tranny, by goerend, HTS, and others. people just clear them and the y mostly dont come back. the actual part is cheap, made by crystler i think

Had mine come on a couple thousand miles ago. Took it to the dealer and they said same thing. They wanted to replace a whole list of parts, said they would call when it came in. Well they never called, so I did a band adjustment and changed the Governor pressure solenoid and cleared the code. Been fine ever since, actually the tranny never felt any different, shifted the same since new. Well I take that back, I now dont have the 1-2 shuttle shift since I changed the Governor Pressure solenoid. To get to my point just clear the code and keep on truckin.

BTW, the code came up after I was on a dirt road doing about 30mph for about 10 miles, I got back on the pavement and was at about 60mph when it came on.
