P0243 turbo/supercharger wastegate solenoid a malfunction?!

My truck threw this code thr other day, I tried clearing it multiple times with my predator programmer - but it keeps coming back. I have searched ThR forums and didn't find too much information about how to fix it - some say it just disappeared itself? My boost used to be 35 - 37 psi and it has gone back to what I saw without the programmer 22 psi. Does anyone know of any fixes for this? Thanks in advance!

That code is for the failure of the WG controller on the turbo. Its a black cylinder on the turbo about 4" long pointing towards the front of the truck. When it fails it goes to default mode which vavries from 22-26 lbs of boost maximum.

A quick fix is clamp the boost reference hose with samll vice grips to get your boost back. The controller itself is about $150 on line if you want to buy one. The alternative is a WG fooler from Industrial Injection ($35) and a boost elbow from wherever you want to get it ($25). TST has both items on their website if you need a source.

Installing the WG fooler turns off the CEL. Install the boost elbow in the boost reference line and tighten the adjusting screw to where you want your boost to peak at and your done.

Threw the same code. I had to replace my wastegate solenoid ... you can get it from dealership or cummins dealer $250 ... was a PAIN to get off. The truck was shaking I was fighting it so hard, but it does actually come off. Seems to have fixed it for me and it has been over a year.

i am going to paste a reply i sent some one. cut the plug off of the solenoid and place a 50 ohm 5 watt resistor across the leads and plug back in. if you need pix of the mod pm me with your email address when 12 volts is applied to the solenoid it opens up a port and bleeds some of the air back into the volute increasing the waste gate opening from 20 psi to 30 psi. remove the three o rings to prevent damaging them and cut the solenoid into about 7/8 inch above the base that mates to the turbo next cut the square part where the wrench go's deeper to make it easer to tighten up. i cut some more of the outer barrel off for looks but you do not have to. next remove any parts left in the center tube, you will be able to see all the way through the tube. tap the tube with a 1/8 in. npt. and install a 1/8 pipe plug. replace the o rings and install see pix

My problem was as simple as a cracked/broken wire right near the wasegate solenoid. Maybe you will be as lucky for a quick easy fix.

Thanks for all the info guys! I'll have to take a look after work to see if there are any broken wires for starters - I had also talked to dodge and they said to see if the fuse is blown? Do you guys know if that fuse would be under ThR hood or in ThR dash?

The fuse is in the PDC under the hood.
