How hard is is it to swap when it does fail? I just rolled over 100K and was thinking about getting a spare(i like the price of the one from Genos, a lot less then I was thinking), I know I could do it at the house when I have the time Im just wondering if its something that could be done on the side of the road if it does suddenly go out (granted I carry tools with me)

Just cracked 180,000 here on the original pump... But its showed signs of weakening for the last 3-4 months. Anything over 2,100 rpm is a joke now... doesn't really go anywhere and a stumble at idle occasionally. Ordered a Raptor 150 on Tuesday.

I went thru 3 in 98,000 miles. When it was off warranty, I installed 2 Holley black pumps on the frame rail and haven't had a single issue since then. I have 155000 on it today.

Pressure Issues
Yesterday, I was at the dealer, talking to their diesel mechanic, & he mentioned that the original pumps seem to last about 70,000 miles, on average. My truck is an '03, HO.
Last Oct., I installed a Glacier Diesel/Walbro system on my truck before I had fuel pump issues with the stock pump. I, also, bought a spare pump (Walbro) on Ebay in case of emergency. It was about $100.00.
I have about 66,000 miles on the truck.
