Oil Pressure

Just got a quick question here on something tha I have been observing. My oil pressure gauge will drop low when idleing but when I step into it it will go to around 275 where it should be. Do any other guys experiance this on there 3rd gens? I known my 2nds gen it is constant no matter what it is doing. just want to know if there is something I should be looking at here.

The factory gauge is fake ran by the computer and will read in the red if you drop below a specified pressure, 5 PSI, I think.

Their programming isn’t bad for it generally follows what my real oil pressure gauge shows. At idle it will drop quite a bit, down to 20-25, when the RPMs rise so does the pressure, I think what you are seeing is normal, for either a real gauge or the factory fake one.

I assume 275 was a typo and you meant 75, 275PSI would indicate an issue

On a real pressure gauge:
18-20psi hot, idle while towing.
45-60psi, depending on temp.

No. He meant 275 as in 275 Kilo Pascals. He's from Canada and the trucks are marked in metric.
275 kilo Pascals = 40 pounds per square inch

My oil pressure reading on the stock gauge fluctuates, when at idle it is about 12 o'clock (40) and at driving speeds it goes to 2-3 o'clock (60?).

I bought an oil pressure gauge so I can get an actual reading, the POS factory gauge is all but an idiot light, and it's response is a computer thing, not actual. If you had an oil pressure problem you'd be drained out before the gauge even hinted at a real problem taking place.
