Oil filter removal/replace procedure ???

That's what I like to do, wait. I use to just waited till it cooled down. Then I would get oil down the filter and run right on down my arm.

For years now I wait a night and change it the next day, and it seems to make a difference. No mess at all, I have always changed from under the truck. Gives me time in the shade, relax, look at everything closely.
It is a easy change. I have been using Chevron Delo 400 LE oil the last couple years. The truck seems to like it ok. No weird noises or noticeable usage.
In the winter I switch to the Delo 5w-40.

I forgot to mention that I let the oil drain overnight.

I've always been a believer in the theory that one of the main benefits of an oil change is to remove contaminants like carbon and wear material, so I prefer to drain when the engine is freshly run- with the idea that stuff would be in solution and not settled out in oil passages and various surfaces.

I have been doing this for years, for the same reasons you mentioned.
