Oil Drain Plug

I'm going to do my first oil change this week. Does anybody torque the drain plug or just tighten it as we did on our gassers? Am I supposed to fill the filter with oil? Thanks for any pointers.

I think the drain plug is 37lbs you can check the manual though.

Yes fill the oil filter with new oil and be patient for it to soak into all the media to make sure its as full as possible.

the old filter will be full when you remove it so be carefull and go slow. some people put a one gallon zip lock bag over it before they remove it.

just tighten it like any other oil drain plug. if you are super paranoid about it being tightened to spec, then break out the torque wrench, but IMHO, that is something that doesn't need to be tightened with a torque wrench.

I use a torque wrench when I change mine. Better safe than sorry. 35 foot pounds is stamped on my plug.

The gasket is designed for 37lbs, that is what is important.

Do not torque the drain plug to more than what DC states on the plug. You are just asking for problems if you exceed the maximum 35 ft/lb recommended torque.
