Newbie question...eng over revs

Bought first diesel a month ago, Dodge 2500 5.9l turbo with auto transmission...Engine is over reving sometimes...sounds like the engine is out racing the transmission...steady increase to gas pedal makes the transition but seems odd. Happens more often after parking truck and returning while engine is still hot, although have also noticed when engine is cold...anyone else experienced this or is this normal?<br><br>Thanks...

Never mind folks...It appears after reading down through the threads my question is answered. I beleive what I am experiencing is the "Fan Roar" discussed in a previous thread. Makes me feel better anyway ;D

I love it when fellas answer their own questions - sure saves time...

<br><br>BUT, don't feel bad - scared me half to death the first time the fan kicked in on my old '91 on an uphill grade pulling our 5er - I thought the Cummins had blown up... The fan on the '02 is MUCH quieter...
