Question Newbie needs advice...

Greetings! I've lurked around the forum for a short time now. I recently traded my 2002 2500 SO 5 speed 2wd in for a slightly used (6k miles) 2003 2500 4x4 QC SO 47re. I like the new truck alot, still getting acquainted with it. I noticed something yesterday that I can't quite figure out. Sitting in park I try to shift all the way down to 1st. The shifter will move all the way down like it's in 1st but the display on the dash says I'm in 2nd. I can move the shifter up to 2nd and the display still says I'm in 2nd. Is this normal? Thanks in advance!

Had that happen in my 01 auto. The shift linkage has an adjustment down on the tranny that needs to be adjusted. Very easy adjustment. I think its one bolt on the linkage. Move the shifter to 1st, go under to the tranny, loosen bolt on linkage, move down till you hear it click into 1st, retighten.... I'm sure it's the same for the 3rd Gen too. I have the 6sp, so I cant verify.

good luck

Thanks, I'm planning on having the dealer take a look at it this week.
