Newbie Code Question
Newbie Code Question
How are you guys checking for these codes?
I've read that you can cycle the ignition on and off three times in less than five seconds and the codes will appear on the digital odometer. Is this correct?
How do you know when your truck might have a problem (unless of course you can tell)?
Do you just routinely check every once in a while?
Thanks for the help and sorry if this is an ignorant question.

this is not an ignorant question. not at all.
turn the key on and off 3 times(it isnt a race) and then back to on. the odometer will show any codes present. if there is a code, it will be a letter P and 4 numbers. example P0168. if there are none, it will say done.
then you look at this handy dandy link and look up your code.

if there is an issue, you will have a driveability problem or the little engine symbol will appear on the instrument cluster.
