what to look for in a 2003/
thought I would post a quick question.
I just looked at a 2003 2500 4X4 HD with 190,000 miles.
The truck looked very clean.
didn't listen to it or drive it.
It is completely stock.
Non SLT truck with manual everything but tranny.
What would I need to look for in this truck if i decide to look further into it?
Thanks for looking at my post.

Normal wear items, ball joints etc. Check the turbo, see if its been run hot. Doors whistling is a big problem in the 03's. If you can get an HO, you'll be happier with both the tranny and the motor.
On an 03 take it out on the highway and make sure it does not vibrate or have a drone at or right around 70mph. Some 03 trucks were bad in that way. I had an 03 that vibrated so bad the rear view mirror was useless.
Look at all the normal things- leaks, signs of abuse, all the suspension and U joints tight, runs and drives well...
Also look at the alternator bracket. 03's had a tendency to crack across the top, and later versions are cast and stronger. There's a photo in my gallery I think.
There was also an issue with the pressure supply line from the power steering pump to the hydroboost. The original design was just a straight run of hose, that could cause vibration in the pedals and wheel and/or buzz in the dash right at 2000 RPM. The updated hose has a big weight and a crimped metal restriction mid-run...
