New ULSD, how will it affect the 2006's
Diesel fuel additives are probably a good idea anyway, but I'm sure the diesel fuel industry is well aware of any issues with ULSD and will properly treat the new fuel accordingly.
The only station we have in my town started with the ULSD 8 weeks ago. I started to notice a lot more clatter/engine noise than I had before using the ULSD. I am at 8K right now, so I also recognize that my engine is getting broke in, but it was also getting pretty noisy. I added a mix of PS/MMO just to see if it was a fuel related, lack of lubrication issue. I can honestly say that my engine is now back to it's quiet old self. My fuel mileage also dropped with the ULSD, back now where it used to be.
Cummins might not recommend any additives, and I AM getting my fuel from a reputable source, and my truck did not have any problems running the fuel as far as idling smoothly, or having power when empty or towing - it just got real noisy from the first tankful of the stuff.
