Front window tint, will it affect the radio reception?
Like to get about a 5 inch strip of tint at the top of the front windshield but notice all the dots and thinking it's a window antenna. Will the tint affect the radio reception??
I understand that there are two types of tint, one with metallic particles which will not fade and the other which is plastic but will fade.
So anyone out there done this and how is youradio reception?
Thanks

Will the tint affect the radio reception??[/quote]No.
Doesn't your truck have an antenna on the right fender like mine? You know, the one that gets caught up in the car-wash?

It will not be affected. Your antenna is outside the truck, not on the windshield.

Re:Front window tint, will it affect the radio reception?
Even if it was in the windshield, very rarely will metallized window films affect radio reception. I have always used metallized window film on my vehicles and this has never been an issue. One of my friends used to be in the window tinting business and sometimes the vehicles with OnStar or GPS systems would have issues. But this was very seldom.

The titanium tints, the mettalized kind that look like silvery mirrors, WILL affect radio reception, but for the most part, only AM radio, which mostly nobody listens to these days. Normal window tint will not affect the radio reception.

I had a tint strip installed at the top of my windshield, but had the installer cut the tint around the black dots.

Yeah, tint film doesn't adhere to dot matrix very well, so most shops will tint around it. Other shops will scuff the dots with some steel wool or cover the dots with black vinyl. It all depends on the installer. If you look at the back windows of certain cars (Cavalier, Sunfire, Grand Am, Honda Accord, etc.) you will see a lot of issues around the dot matrix section depending on the tinter's experience.
