Need your Expertise for this Matter

I've went through my injectors and they all tested fine, checked turbo for any signs of foul play and all is well there. I am experiencing, what feels like the truck wants to launch out of the hole when put in (D)rive. Idle is fine until place in (D) and then is rough, but I show no increase in RPM's. Iff foot is not firm on brake, It wants to take off. After initial launch, the accelerator is completely flat for a moment and then decides to proceed at a snails pace. I am stumped and I'm dealing with a Third Party Service Contract that Dodge says they have nothing to do with. It's virtually impossible to drive around city. On highway or pulling my boat, with the exception of the launch ramp, it's just fine. My Truck is a 2006 5.9 Mega Cab 4x4 Automatic with 99,800 miles "completely stock". Most of miles are highway while pulling boat. No sign of transmission problems whatsoever. "If I have foot on brake, I can push accelerator to the floor and nothing happens".

Sounds kinda like a bad throttle input sensor. Dead pedal is a sign of what happens if your sensor has gone afoul.

Is this a quick simple fix. Where is this located? Time for me to get a service manual, because I have a lot to learn about this truck.

Some were located under a round plastic cover towards the driverside front of the head....others, like mine, I believe are located under the battery....which one I'm not sure of. Don't think it's a diffcult R&R but I do think the new TIPM sensor does have to be calibrated to the truck.

I just remembered that it's an APPS (accelerator pedal position sensor). TIPM, uh, maybe Throttle Input something or other. Anyhow, I think they are the same thing....hopefully someone who knows can set me straight on this.

How about the sensor at the pedal? Has 3 or 4 wires leading into it with what appears to be a small square box. Price at dealer 140.00 and online is 26.99. Big Difference.

The APPS on a 2006 is on the inside of the firewall connected to the accelerator pedal. They are very solid units and give little issue. If you have enough of a problem with them to cause driveability issues you will codes and likely a CEL. For good measure, have it scanned for codes to make sure.

From the description of the problem the TC has failed. Typical problem on an 06.

I thank you all for your input. I'm not certain what you mean by the TC. About the codes. There is and has been "No" service engine Light and "No Error Codes" when we checked. My mpg goes from 7.8 on display to 17.0 with no noticeable difference in the operation of Truck. Major flat spot in accelerator when taking off, with no increase in RPM's, yet truck wants to launch 20-25' as soon as you let off the brake pedal with a noticeable surge in engine. You'll have no pedal for a moment and then it will increasingly gain momentum.

Yep, typical symtoms of the sprag clutch on the stator hub in the torque converter seizing. You essentially have a no stall converter starting out and thta freaks the ECU out so you get a dead spot, slow spool on the turbo, slow fueling and acceleration. Once your up to raod speed things are fine because that sprag is supposed to lock.

You need a new torque converter in the trans.

Yeap, sounds like a faulty Torque Converter (TC) for the auto tranny.
