Need Pics of Factory Fuel Pump

Hello guys, I'm in the process of installing a factory liftpump replacement and I need pics of what the factory canister mounted lift pump looks like. I can't tell weather the cylindrical thing on the back is the LP or not. The service dealer said he couldn't find in their system if it was ever replaced with the in-tank solution.

Don't have a picture handy but the original stock lift pump is attached to the back of the filter canister.

It's on the back of the fuel filter canister. I (as other's did before me, ) highly recomend a 3/16" allen head socket to get it off.

3/16"? Coulda sworn I used a 5mm on mine.... but it was a while ago.

Yep - black cylindrical-lookin thing on the back of the fuel filter canister, with a fuel line coming out of the bottom (the fuel line is part of the pump - don't try and disconnect it at the pump... there's a quick-disconnect fitting about 18" or so down the line). Easiest way to get at it is to jack up the L/F wheel, and pull the wheel and the plastic wheel well liner. There's four screws that hold the pump to the canister.

Some pictures of the pump:

Thanks guys. I guess I never thought that little thing on the back could be a fuel pump. I'll probly take the truck to a diesel repair shop to have my Walbro w/CP3 bypass system installed, so they can fab up some fuel lines. Does anyone make a plate to go over this hole once it's removed?

There is an adapter plate in the lift pump conversion package, the one that moves the pump back to the tank. I'll see if I can get a p/n.

It's a 5mm if you want it to fit correctly.

Well it must be one of those size's that metric and standard are so close either will work. I know I have used both standard and metric wrench's to work on differant thing's on my truck.

3/16" = 0.187 5 inch = 4.762 5 millimeter.

So it must be a 5mm. I just went out and tried both size's. The 3/16 had just a little wiggle, but fit just fine. The 5mm was really tight. I actually had to force it in there. But obviously you couldn't fit a 5mm wrench in a 4.762 hole. So I stand corrected, and bow down to the 5mm guy's.

I usually use whatever works myself. I just happened to have a 5mm allen socket.
