factory 17' wheels with factory spacer???

I bought a 98 that has newer fact. AL. 17's on it..... took fronts off to change out track bar and on 1 side it had a what looks to be factory spacer/ ring. Was wondering if its supposed to be there and if it needs 2 .Because rims are a real pita to get off/ tight on center hole. I do not see any clearance problem with brakes but the newer trucks have bigger front brakes then my 98 I sure??? thanks, Nate

I believe (not 100%) is that the spacer is on the side that is not aligned properly. What I mean is with a solid front axle, it needs to be centered under the front end, and with the track bars, mounts, ect, sometimes it can be off a little bit (side to side) I believe that's what the spacer is there for, just to move the wheel a little bit to make both the same. Again don't quote me, but my truck had one on the passenger side (1998)

The spacer came from the factory to correct right drift on the freeway I believe. I chucked mine on my '99 and it still wandered.

This was the fix for the Drift problem that the trucks had ...using wheel spacers in the front was Dodges fix for this problem...a fix that did work if you picked the right size.(work at a dodge dealer for 22yrs until back gave out)
