what factory wheels fit on a 1997? - backspace & offset on stock wheels?
I'm hoping my question will have a better chance of being answered in this sub-forum category than the other one. From https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=214546
I'm currently running 265/75-16's on my factory chrome steel 16x6.5 wheels. What is the backspace and offset of these wheels?
I'd like to put 285/75-16's on the truck, but I do want to run wider wheels. I was thinking 8" wide. I was thinking I'd like aftermarket wheels, but I'm concerned about getting enough backspacing. There is also the option of running factory wheels from a newer truck, but I've read the 2000-2002 aluminum wheels are out of the question due to tie rod end rubbing and needing to machine the rear drums. Will the 2003+ wheels fit? Although, those are 17" wheels and I'm sure 17" tires are more expensive than 16" tires.
Any suggestions for an aftermarket wheel with enough backspace to keep the tires under the truck?
Thanks.

I have a 1997 and had absolutely no issues running 2001 alloys on the front of my truck. I did have some rubbing when I put the Luke's Links on but that was fixed with a little grinding of the link. Couple years later and no problems at all.
The rear drums did need a little taken off but $25 and a day later they were done. Took them to a local guy to shave down the lip. It wasnt that big of a deal really.
Running H2 rims now. They are 5.5" BS so they stick out about 1" further than the 2001 alloys I was running. They fit front and rear without any issues and are a 17" rim.
Edit: Looking back at old posts jogged some memory. I had a very slight rubbing of the TRE at full lock in probably either direction. It only happened when turning at full lock. All other times were fine.
