Dont just throw that cat away. You might consider getting it rewelded and hold onto it in case you need to put it back or sell it. Those things arent cheap.

I forgot to mention, take the old cat and have it recycled. It's worth a good bit of money.
Why is it called a test pipe? Is there someone I can email any questions @ the DTR store? Does anyone know if I purchase this pipe that I can go to any muffler shop and they will put it on for me??

It's illegal to take your cat off. it's required by law to be on there. Vendors make pipes that will replace it but cannot sell them unless they call it a pipe that you can temporarily put in place to "TEST" to see if your cat is clogged up. In the early days of cats, each end had a flange on them. Vendors sold the test pipes with flanges in place so you can swap it out quickly. You will also see other product not DOT approved that say they are for off road use only. Be aware that some inspection places will not pass your truck without it on there but when you find one that won't, theres 20 more that will. You may have to find a place that will next time. I considered trading 04 a few weeks ago and the dealer mentioned that it would need the cat back on it. I told him it was an 04 not a 4.5 so it was not built with a cat. He didn't quite believe me at first but looked it up. You may have to do your delete yourself or get a buddy to do it. Some muffler shops won't do it. There's only one in our town that carries 4" pipe. He will sell you a piece already ready to weld in but he will not install it. You might want to consider keeping your cat, getting it welded in case you need to put it back on to sell it.

I'm planning on going to my brother-in-laws place and he told me he would do it for a very low cost because they do for most of the family who have the Cummins. Most of my nephews have the Cummins. I'm planning on getting the CAT test pipe $94.09 here on the DTR store. I'm just waiting for them (DTR) to call me back cause I several questions for them.

My 4" piece was about $20. Call around to some muffler shops to see if they have any. Just a strait piece a little longer than the cat is all you need.

Well I ordered a part from the DTR store yesterday morning and just got the part about 5 minutes ago! I have never gotten a part this fast in my life!! Also he was very helpful and answered all my question. I almost ordered the Aluminized CAT "Test" Pipe and he assumed (there is another word for it but I didn't know how to spell it correctly) correctly that I wanted to match my existing part which is the Stainless CAT "TEST" Pipe while we were on the phone yesterday.

Well I finally got my pipe added on last weekend (2-9-13) up in in panhandle of Texas @ my brother-in-laws shop in Hereford. It's amazing how quite it is in my truck! I can actually talk (not raise my voice) to someone and hear what they are saying. Also I went from 16 mpg in the city to 19 mpg! It seems I have way more pick-up in the acceleration dept. as well!

A new one for a 5.9 Cummins will cost you near $500 OEM. People steal them all the time because of the resale valute at scrap yards. They have valuable metal inside!!! I've heard of people crawling under vehicles with a battery powered saws-all and removing cats in a parking lot!!!!

Mine was all melted together and had broken loose and rattled around for several hundred miles. Then my 10 yr. old son learned how to drive the forklift at the shop and attempted to run over it several times. Wasn't much left for anyone to take! LOL. I have a vid of it from my cell if anyone is interested in me posting it here.

A girl told me they crawled under her Toyota 4runner in broad daylight and cut her cat off. Mine is off, but if I caught someone doing it, I would saw their fingers off. That's Edit

Hey Ram! I am back! Daddy let me back on the site. lol If he see's this, he's gonna smack me for calling him dad. lmfao Anyway, glad you got your truck fixed bud. I looked up that cat on your truck and that thing is over a 1,000 bucks. Least you have yours because I cut mine off years ago and forgot to get it back from the muffler shop. Called the shop and they said it was gone which was bs! Anyway, enjoy your truck now!

Welcome back. I'll post a pic later today of what it looked like after it was removed from my truck but before my son had fun trying to mash it.
