Sounding like a broken record....

Just picked up my '03 2500 CTD. I asked the salesman to have the rear axle fluid level checked before I took delivery. He claimed that he had never heard of any problems. The sales manager said he had heard stories of problems but assured me it was OK because everything gets "PDI'ed". I said whatever, I want it checked.

Guess what?

It was a quart low!!!! The salesman was quite surprised, and a little apologetic.

Thanks to everyone who posted on the topic. Hopefully you guys prevented expensive damage on my new truck.

The power of the HO is just incredible. What a rush when the turbo spools up!!!

c ya
Mike in Arkansas

Re:Sounding like a broken record....

Welcome to DTR Mike! Glad you had the sense to straighten those guys out on that rear end. I wish all the Dealers were like Luke S, They should make DTR part of the dealership program.

Luke S you are a credit to your occupation by hanging around these boards and taking the time to learn what DC doesn't want you to know. If I had a dealer like you in my home town I would never go out of town again to buy another vehicle. Price is important, but piece of mind is worth paying for. I would rather pay a little more to a man that I knew would be taking care of me and wanting me as a repeat customer.

Again Mike glad to have you aboard!

Re:Sounding like a broken record....

Every new truck that we get goes through a pre delivery inspection. All the fluids get checked and topped off if neccesary. But I have paid extra attention to make sure our guy's check these differentials. You just can't be to careful when you are talking about these kind of $$$. Hell, I even had a few of em pulled back in and checked em myself just to make sure.

Thanks for the kind words Top.

Mike from Arkansas, enjoy the site. You know here in Missouri we have a joke about the profession of most people who live south of I-44, towards Arkansas. Do you know wha the #1 job is down there? Chopping wood

Most of us have shoes nowadays.

And just FYI, I'm a transplant from above the Mason Dixon line.

And yes, this website has been very informative. I spent hours reading the posts before making the decision to get the big, bad Dodge.

Thanks again to everybody that has contributed to the various forums on this site.

Mike in NW Arkansas

I wish a big wig from dodge or cummins would get on here and read what is going on and what we really want.
Like twin turbos
factory ready pulling truck under 40 grand. Yeah right
how about a 350 hp engine with a 6 spd eaton-fuller or a 6 spd auto that would be nice.
what about a D4500 even better with a 8.3 Cummins.
Or just good service form all dodge dealers.
