My Kitty is broken

Does anyone know how much a new cat costs (my truck is 100% stock and I think I have a 4" exhaust)? I've been trying to call muffler shops near my area but of course they are all closed today. I was wondering why my truck was so loud inside my cab and one of my brother-in-laws told me to feel for airflow w/ my hand. Well my cat is almost totally split in half near the floorboard. Is it dangerous to drive my truck while it is this way?

Here is a couple of pics I just took of it.

Look around these sites. Someone will have one they took off. See if you can score a used one. You can buy a delete pipe to get you buy in the mean time. Driving it should not be an issue unless fumes get in the cab.

How loud will my truck be if I took out my cat (replaced w/ a straight pipe) and left the muffler in? I'm sure it would be much quieter than it is now I'm sure.

Running a straight pipe with no cat or muffler would be very loud with a lot of drone in the cab especially when pulling. I have no cat on my truck. I took my stock muffler off and put an aftermarket muffler on and the noise level isn't nothing compared to the straight pipe. Hope this helps!

I your opinion (anyone replying to this post), would it be or is it better to just remove the cat? I'm keeping the muffler cause I live in a residential neighborhood and don't want to p-i-s-s them off. I know Frisco doesn't do emission testing just the safety inspections on my truck.

OH! "MERRY CHRISTMAS"

Good morning! Merry Christmas! I would remove the cat completely to allow the exhaust to flow better. I wouldn't straight pipe the truck because you will loose backpressure. Some backpressure is better than none at all regardless of what people say on these forums. I know when I straight piped my truck one time, I lost a little power so I put the muffler back on. Anyway, check your pm box. I sent you one last night.

How many miles are on it? If I recall, the cats are under a forced federal warranty for quite awhile and the dealer has to replace it.

Personaly I would just use it as an excuse to just remove it and put a pipe in its place. I intend on doing mine one of these days but first I have to get a torque converter in it so I can drive it again.

Your truck won't be too loud. I know someone who did what you are thinking about. It gives the exhaust a better(deeper) sound and you can also hear your turbo slightly more than stock. I have "old" ears and I think it sounds GOOD!

He wont be getting any PM's from anyone because he violated the #1 main forum rule here by trying to sell you something by sending you a PM.

The forum rule reads "If you send a PM to someone trying to sell them something without them asking you to contact them first, you will be banned with NO Questions asked.

So if I get rid of the cat, what would I put in it's place? I'm keeping my muffler since there is nothing wrong with. Or should I just replace it w/ a used one (I have no idea where to look for one) or a new one.

Get a Cat test pipe from here on the DTR store. When mine goes, that is what I will be doing.

I forgot to mention, take the old cat and have it recycled. It's worth a good bit of money.
