Great, now they can run more of those irritating "Driving Tips from Murray's Discount Auto Stores" commercials.

I take it the answer to the question why u running Mobil and not AMSOIL (as you use the AMSOIL filtering system - i know it is better then the mopar single fleetgard filter...)... is that it is a lot eaZier to get your hands on the Mobil vs. AMSOIL ???

yes, no, maybe...
I run the d1 because:

1. It's a 5w40 compared to the amsoil 15w40 that I like, and I live in the north. 15w oils really start getting thick compared to 5w's at temps below 10F. If I lived in the south, I'd run Amsoil 15w40.

2. Amsoil is actually easier than getting d1, because every time I've ordered , over the last 4-5 times, it has come in one day from the day I ordered online, regular ground shipping. Who needs to drive all over trying to find a walmart or parts store that has d1 in stock? People always whine about amsoil being hard to get, I think that's because some people can't plan more than 1 day ahead of time. When I start getting close to oil change time, I order oil and filters for the next two oil changes or so. That way I have it when I need to do the change...ordering online is clearly easier than driving somewhere.

3. Just for the sake of avoiding argument if there were a warranty issue, the D1/M1 is API certified CI-4 - so the dealer can't say anything. If you have an oil related problem and you are using Amsoil, the dealer will try his best to blame the problem on the oil and not cover it..

I did drive up to Racine, WI to the PETRO stop to buy three gallons of Delvac1 for the next change.
No I haven't. I called the TA truck stop just north of the toll booth. They have a full service repair shop and parts counter. It's less than 5 min from the mall. They stock Delvac 1, it's $27/gal. Still looking for a better deal though.

Guys, when I got the m1 truck and suv (by the way, easy to spot since it has a bright yellow cap) I called about 6 wallmarts until I found one that had it. It's still a relatively new oil, and not a staple yet at most stores. If you contact the manager for that area of the store, they can order cases etc, I did this at my local walmart eventually, after talking to about 3 or 4 employees that 'didn't know if they could do that' ... I suggest to let your fingers do the walking and ask the clerks to visually walk out and confirm truck & suv.

Really? I've bought fuel there a good 3-4 times, each time I asked about it as they have all the Mobil oil ad material all over the place with picts of Delvac1 and Delvac1300. Each time they said they only stock the Delvac1300. Maybe the oil change shop knows something the store and fuel counter does not? When I looked on Mobil's site they only had the Petro listed, and I was driving by there once, so I picked some up.

I'm with lightman to some extent, I just mail order the stuff. Tho what's easiest for me is to call Sheid Diesel and get the filters and Cummins PB-Extreme at the same time.

But you can get D1 from http://store.avlube.com/fonfacsizcol.html it's even cheaper than $27/gal, before shipping at least.

I just came back from walmart with 10 quarts of m1 truck and suv - 4.77/qt. I've never been to that walmart before but lucked out.

I think I just need to change my full flow filter of my bypass system and use about 1 quart, and have enough for the 7.5 quarts my MB takes which is coming up soon.
