Missing at idel and low speed with smoke
Ok guys, I'm asking for a little help. I've got a 06 with a 6-speed, engine just rolled 84K. I've got a Bully dog triple down loader with the out look monitor, the cat is history, South Bend clutch. I pull regular mantaince, there are no codes showing. The truck has been playing a starting game for a while now, I posted earlier about that. Now it's playing a new game. Last night I pulled off of the interstate and up to a stop light, it started to shake and was dropping cylinders, puffing white and black smoke, as in steam locomotive time. Light turned green and it took around a 1/8 mile before it came out of it. Last week when I started it, it played this same game, ran rough for 30 seconds, give or take then it was happy. I just returned from a 1300 mile road trip and it's not idling smooth, lots of blue and white smoke at idle. A little history, I bought it new, and when it was bone stone with 5K it played a very similar game at idle, no smoke, and it blew up going down the interstate, as in blew 2 pistons out the bottom of the oil pan. Now if it does blow up again, how does the 100K 7 year warranty work? Money is a little tight, I really can't afford to start throwing darts. Thanks guy, any ideas?
If you have a code start there. A bad injector or air in the fuel will cause what you are describing. '06's have that problem with #4 line cracking so replace it while you are in there if it was not already done.
Thanks! What's the deal with the number 4 line cracking? My garage is heated and when I fired it this morning, it shook, ran like crap, smoked out the garage and the whole nieghbor hood. I drove to work (3) miles, ran bad. Called the local dealer, they said bring it over. Went out and started it up, ran perfect. The dealer had it all day, it wouldn't miss a beat for them. There keeping it over night, maybe tomorrow the gremlin will return.
The #4 line isolator sometime comes loose, there is a blue isolator mid-line, with a bolt. Ensure that its tight and its not an issue.
Put a drop of oil on a paper towel to see if it forms a brown ring around the oil. I would be cautious driving it until I knew if it was making oil or not.
