Loud Fuel Pump?

First off, I am a newby to the cummins, so thank you all for letting me be a part of a great Forum! I have been reading for days! Anyway, I have an 03 2500.... cranks great, but after i start it, the fuel pump is very loud and seems like it is going in and out... if you watch the lights in the cab, they actully dim when it does it. I also noticed the amp hand stays about 12 volts or so for a couple of minutes, then chages fine... no running issues with it or anything... just looking for a little guidance...

usually thats the glow plugs cycling after you start that makes the lights dim.

Grid Heater.

Located between the Intake Plenum and Intake Horn.
Heats air going into the engine on cold days to help startup.
Must be cold in Tn...
Some folks in warmer states remove them to try to increase cold air flow and reduce turbulence. Search for grid heater deletes. Basically a square that replaces the heater.
