Long start times when parked on hill. HELP??
Long start times when parked on hill. HELP??
It seems that when I park my truck on a hill (nose up hill) it takes a long time to start (1-3 min) like the fuel bleed off over night or lost pressure compared to sitting level and taking 30 seconds or less to start.
Here's what I know:
Batteries are good at 720 &715CCA
New fuel filter 1000 mi ago ( no effect on better starting)
Starter seems to spin free and fast
Heater grid seems to cycle
New retro fit lift pump in tank 25,000 ago
Block heater works
And now siting at the dealer with no codes and they say it starts fine.
This has been going on for 2 months now on and off. Seems like the problem started after I had the valves adjusted. Could this be related??
I did a search and found something on starting issues for the 2nd gens on hills but it seem like a random thread.
Thanks for your help

From your description of the problem, I would agree that the fuel is draining back to the tank. Cycle the key to bump the starter and let the lift pump run for 20-30 seconds. Then try and start. If that solves your problem then you know fuel is draining back to the tank. Perhaps something is amiss with the lift pump retrofit? I'd have to look at a schematic, but I have to believe there is a check valve to prevent a drain back problem.
Back to morning brew. . .
