Locker & Gears.. Q's

Hello to all, noob here to the forum. This looks like a very good forum. I'm looking at buying a new 2500 4x4 diesel Auto. I'm a veteran 4x4'r and fabr. What axle comes in the rear of a '06 2500 4x4 diesel auto? 10.5", but that doesn't help. Dana 70? 80? I heard you CAN'T get a Detroit locker for the older body style 2500's. Only a ARB. that true? I'm a detroit fan all the way... I've got them front and rear in my custom wheeling 4runner. The goal for this 2500 ram would be 35"-37" tires, Wheels, big winch & maybe a front bumper, Lockers and Gears maybe.

Welcome aboard. The rear is American Axel Manufacter, AAM. It is a 14 bolt 11.5'' ring gear. Same rear as in the new GM trucks just different internals. And no lockers are available. There are a couple of ratio's for them. Very strong rear just the stock anti spin unit doesn't work very well if a all.
Good luck, Jim

You CAN get Detroit lockers for the Dana 60 (front) 70 and 80 rear ends, 2ed gen axles. The American axle appears to be another story.

The actual application is for IFS GM's which is a AAM axle also. It can be made to fit the front axle not the rear.

The rear anti-slip works good with a load on it (both wheels).
Unloaded it doesnt work too well.
