Lift Pump and Quad Race Question
Lift Pump and Quad Race Question
While running up the interstate, unloaded, level 3 race, fairly decent incline, crusing speed of 70-75 mph, the truck started hesitating/missing. Looked down at fuel pressure, it was at 5 psi. Switch Quad back to Level 1, it cleared up, approx 8 psi and ran fine. Level 2, same thing started hesitating/missing and back to 5-6 psi.
I change my fuel filter at every 5k, should be OK. Is the lift pump failing or is it wanting more fuel than the lift pump can keep up with. 57k on stock pump.

At 5-6PSI, should be OK at the power levels you are at. Mine was still fine when it was at 2-3 PSI. I finally replaced my LP when it hit 0 under boost. Does not mean you are not experiencing fuel loss however. You very well maybe. I woul djust have to think at 5-6PSI you would be OK. Now, of course, if you plan on keeping your truck for awhile, for teh low cost of a LP, I would just go ahead and get it over with. Replace the crap LP with a Walbro (or FASS) and never have to worry about it again. Ever.
